Clak: a typing test that feels and sounds like a mechanical keyboard

Build a free typing test that makes practice satisfying enough to come back to. As someone types, an on-screen keyboard responds to their physical keys, optional mechanical keyboard sounds play, and the test gives immediate feedback on mistakes. Offer timed, word-count, quote, and untimed modes. At the end, show WPM and accuracy, let people practise the words they missed, and save progress in their browser without requiring an account. It’s for people improving their typing speed, keyboard enthusiasts, and anyone who wants a more playful break while practising. The hard part is keeping the animations and audio responsive without distracting from the words or interfering with accurate scoring. I’ve built a version called Clak at claks.app. I’m sharing the idea for anyone interested in building on it or trying a different take.
